Since its foundation in 1946 by members of the Irish Jewish Community, the DJPC has built a congregation based on values of inclusivity and the practice of progressive Judaism. Membership is open to anyone of the Jewish faith and we welcome the participation of non-Jewish spouses or partners in the life of the congregation. In addition we have a reputation for providing a warm welcome to guests from around the world to our services when they are visiting Ireland.
Our earliest meetings were conducted in a Quaker Meeting House. Today we hold all our services, our Cheder and many events and Simchas in our purpose built synagogue. Services are held every Erev Shabbat, High Holy Day and Festivals. We also have regular Shabbat morning and Family services. Marking all the key milestones in a Jewish life is integral to our community and Births, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Kabbalat Torah, Weddings and Anniversaries are celebrated.
Members of our congregation are involved in a variety of Irish Interfaith and Cross community activities. We are also an international partner in Mitzvah Day UK.
Every Sunday during the school term we hold Cheder for the children of our members. In addition to learning Hebrew and about Judaism we include a variety of outings and special events for the children and their families. Many of our older children and young adults take part in Jewish camps organised in the uK, Israel and Europe by Liberal Judaism.
